New media is an extension of traditional media - SMGBB general manager

As China's media sector continues to evolve, some argue that new media will revolutionize, and subsequently replace, traditional media. Kevin Rui, a new media insider, shares his views on new media as an extension - rather than a replacement - of traditional media during an interview with Interfax on Oct. 23.

INTERFAX-CHINA - New media endeavors should have the long-term goal of becoming a part of the mainstream media, while adopting the business model already provided by traditional media, says Kevin Rui, general manager of SMG Broadband Co. Ltd. (SMGBB), the newly created media unit of Shanghai Media Group (SMG).
