China struggles to energize domestic solar industry

Shanghai. January 26. INTERFAX-CHINA - China's photovoltaic (PV) industry, long dependent on foreign raw materials and equipment, has gradually been cultivating its own polysilicon production and solar equipment manufacturing capabilities over the last four to five years. Domestic production capacity has grown at a rapid pace, but few incentives have been implemented to spur sufficient growth in the domestic market, leaving the industry heavily dependent on overseas sales.
