Shanghai. March 19. INTERFAX-CHINA - Russia's Minister of Industry and Trade Victor B. Khristenko inspected the Russian Pavilion under construction at the 2010 World Exposition site in Shanghai on March 19.

"The Russian Pavilion will definitely complete construction before the end of April despite having encountered difficulties during the construction process," Khristenko told reporters in front of the Russian Pavilion in Shanghai's Pudong New Area.

The Russian Pavilion occupies an area of 6,000 square meters and features 12 white-gold towers in the traditional Russian architectural style.

To date, construction of the exterior of the pavilion has been completed, while the build-out of the interior is ongoing.

In addition to showcasing Russian technology in areas such as medicine, telecommunications, biopharmaceuticals and aerospace, Khristenko added that the pavilion will enable visitors to experience firsthand a taste of traditional Russian culture.

Khristenko was accompanied on the site inspection by Russia's Deputy Ambassador to China Evgeniy Tomihin, and Alexander Sharonov, the Russian Consul General in Shanghai.

The 2010 World Expo will take place in Shanghai from May 1 to October 31 this year under the theme "Better City, Better Life."
