Jiangsu initiative could spark energy efficiency throughout China

China's central government is struggling to meet its goal of reducing the country's industrial electricity consumption by 20 percent from 2005 to 2010. However, an energy savings initiative that Jiangsu Province developed with the help of the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC) could be the model that China needs to meet this ambitious target, Barbara Finamore of the NRDC tells Interfax.

Beijing. March 10. INTERFAX-CHINA - In 2004, Jiangsu Province and the Natural Resources Defense Council (NRDC) launched an initiative to lower electricity consumption by the province's factories and industrial plants through the use of energy-saving technology.
